THE HSE GROUP: CARRIER OF THE GREEN TRANSITION ALSO BY MEANS OF SOLAR ENERGY

The HSE Group is the largest producer of electricity from renewable sources in Slovenia and the carrier of the country’s green transition to a carbon-free society. At the forefront of our strategic plans is also the utilisation of the potential of the Sun, whose international day we celebrate today, May 28. Eight solar power plants of the HSE Group produced 5,674 MWh of electricity last year. This is comparable to 529,238 litres of diesel fuel, or, to put it another way: with this amount of electricity an electric car could travel 25.7 million kilometres.

The HSE Group consistently follows guidelines in the field of environmental protection and renewable energy sources. The contribution of our solar power plants – Dravograd SPP, OCV2 SPP, Zlatoličje SPP, Formin SPP, Gimnazija Velenje SPP, Hubelj SPP, Prapretno SPP, as well as Brežice SPP, where HSE owns 49%, is increasing in this area. The total power of all solar power plants of the HSE Group is already almost 10 MW and the electricity produced is sufficient to supply approximately 1,350 Slovenian households. Experts from the HSE Group companies are involved in the construction of solar power plants in the HSE Group, most of these facilities are entirely the result of internal knowledge.

“The HSE Group attaches great importance and potential to solar energy. We want to build 800 MW of new photovoltaic power plants by 2030 and we are also continuing with the preparation of documentation for the construction of floating solar power plants,” says Dr Tomaž Štokelj, Managing Director of HSE, and emphasises that: “The vision of the HSE Group is to become a responsible carrier of Slovenia’s green transition. Solar power plant projects play an important role in achieving this goal.”
