PLANNED SHUTDOWN OF BLOCK SIX OF THE ŠOŠTANJ THERMAL POWER PLANT

On Tuesday, 23 April 2019, a planned shutdown of Block 6 of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant shall take place after 77 days of uninterrupted operation. During the planned shutdown, which is expected to end on 6 May 2019, inspections of equipment, cleaning of the LUVO heater gas-air tract and other warranty interventions shall be performed.

The Block 5 of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant shall generate electricity for the needs of Slovene consumers and thermal energy for the needs of the consumers in the Šaleška dolina valley during the Block 6 shutdown.

Block 6 of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant produced 3,753 GWh of electricity in 2018, when due to a regular overhaul, the shutdown lasted two months. The energy generated in Block 6 represented as much as 33.5 per cent of the electricity generation in Slovenia.
