NEW MANAGEMENTS OF COMPANIES SENG AND PV APPOINTED

The Supervisory Board of Holding Slovenske Elektrarne d.o.o. (NS HSE) gave its consent to the appointment of new managements of two companies of the HSE Group at yesterday’s regular session. Soške Elektrarne Nova Gorica (SENG) will as of 1 January 2023 be managed by Director General Mitja Gorjan, and the Velenje Coal Mine (PV) by the two-member management board consisting of Director General Marko Mavec and Director Janez Rošer.

Mitja Gorjan was appointed the general director of SENG after the term of the current director of the company Radovan Jereb expired. Gorjan, who since 2006 has headed the investment and development sector of the utility company Vodovodi in kanalizacija Nova Gorica d. d., holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in engineering economics, and has years of experience in investment planning and implementation. As the director general of the company, he will be primarily in charge of continuing the work on the planned development projects and priority investments in the renovation, upgrade and construction of renewable electricity production facilities.

Marko Mavec holds a master’s degree in mining and geotechnical engineering. He was employed at the Velenje Coal Mine for most of his career, serving as the director general of the company in 2019 and 2020. He returns to the Velenje Coal Mine as the conditions for coal extraction are very difficult, affecting the operation of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ). He will manage the company with Janez Rošer, who holds a PhD degree in geotechnical engineering, and who is the current director general of the company. The professional profiles of the members of the management of the Velenje Coal Mine and their extensive experience in mining is exceptionally important for ensuring the conditions for the extraction of the appropriate quantities of coal required for the operation of the TEŠ, while simultaneously ensuring the sustainable future operation of the Velenje Coal Mine.

The managements of both companies were appointed for a four-year term.

Radovan Jereb, the outgoing director general of SENG, and Aleš Logar, the outgoing director of the Velenje Coal Mine, remain employed at the company.
