Generator 6 of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ) will be shut down this weekend due to a malfunction of the electrostatic precipitator. During the shut-down of the generator, electricity and heat supply will be provided by Generator 5, and by the gas units, if necessary. Due to the manner of operation and functioning of the electrostatic precipitator, such malfunctions can occur several times. Some of them can be eliminated during operation of the generator, and some require it to be shut down. The work needs to be done in order to ensure that emissions of particulate matter remain within the permissible limits, regardless of the generator’s power.
Up to and including yesterday, Generator 6 had produced 1,713 GWh of electricity and 165.8 GWh of thermal energy this year.
The average availability of Generator 6, which represents, technologically and ecologically, the best available technology (BAT), has stood at 97% for the last three years.
