Ljubljana, 29 September 2020 – The Supervisory Board of the company Holding Slovenske Elektrarne d.o.o. gave at today’s session its consent to the Management Board of Holding Slovenske Elektrarne d.o.o. to sign a concession contract for the use of water for the production of electricity on the Sava River from Ježica to Suhadol with the concession provider – the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.
Members of the Supervisory Board of Holding Slovenske Elektrarne were also acquainted with the Agreement regulating the manner of the implementation of the concession for the use of water for the production of electricity in the sections of the water body of the Sava River from Ježica to Suhadol, and confirmed the Strategy for the construction of the hydro power plant project on the middle Sava until 2030 (for the Suhadol, Trbovlje and Renke hydro power plants).
Stojan Nikolić, director general of HSE, expressed his satisfaction regarding the occasion and said: “Today we were given consent for the signing of a concession agreement for the construction of hydro power plants on the middle Sava, i.e. for launching a project for which we have been waiting for 15 years. It is a major step forward, both in terms of increasing the energy self-sufficiency of Slovenia and meeting the requirements for a gradual decarbonisation of the economy and society as set by the European Union. The project will further increase the role of the HSE Group as the largest Slovenian producer of electricity from renewable sources. We are proud that the project enables us to contribute to making the country cleaner while supplying it with energy.”
Both documents are expected to be signed on Friday, 2 October 2020.
