HSE GROUP DONATES TWO VENTILATORS TO UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTRE LJUBLJANA

(Ljubljana, 25 March 2020) – The HSE Group, the largest Slovenian producer and supplier of electricity from domestic Slovenian resources, donated on Wednesday, 25 March, two ventilators to the University Medical Centre (UKC) Ljubljana for the treatment of COVID-19.

The ventilators, which are of the Medumat Standard and Medumat Transport type, produced by the German company Weinmann, belong to the category of high-end transport ventilators and are provided with the appropriate additional equipment. Both types of ventilators enable the use of various ventilation techniques. They are equipped with a system for wireless communication with other medical devices such as defibrillators and are able to send data about their state and settings to a remote computer. The respirators come with portable oxygen tanks and a tube that connects to oxygen installations in the hospital or in the ambulance vehicle.

During the coronavirus epidemic, the ventilators will help healthcare workers to treat patients who are suffering from the most severe symptoms.

UKC Ljubljana director general Janez Poklukar said on the occasion that he was happy with any donation, especially those “such as today’s, as HSE is donating to us two transport ventilators, with which we will be able to, in worst-case scenarios, help patients who need ventilation during transport.”

“It is not only a socially responsible gesture,” said Stojan Nikolić, director general of HSE, “the devices which we donate to UKC Ljubljana today are of exceptional importance in these difficult times. Of course, we wish that there was no necessity to use them at all, but if there is, that they save as many lives as possible,” he added.
