HOLDING SLOVENSKE ELEKTRARNE RETURNS EUR 417 MILLION TO THE STATE

Today, Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) returned to the owner another EUR 75 million of recapitalisation funds received as a result of the decision of Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SSH) in December 2022. In total, EUR 417 million has already been returned to the state from EUR 492 million of recapitalisation funds.

In 2023, the HSE Group operated successfully in all key segments and thus returned last year to the owner the bulk of the subsequent capital injection, by which it has bridged the liquidity issues from 2022. At the same time, intensive investments in renewable energy sources were initiated in 2023 in order to speed up the country’s green transition. Our development plans focus on the construction of hydroelectric and solar power plants and wind farms, investments in hydrogen technologies, geothermal energy, biomass and technologies related to flexibility and e-mobility. Our retail companies ECE and Energija Plus will also be actively involved in pursuing these goals, encouraging electricity consumers to adopt sustainable practices by developing new products and services. The good performance in 2023 also enabled us to allocate more than two million euros to the post-flood reconstruction effort in Slovenia.

HSE is expected to return the remaining EUR 75 million in the subsequent capital injection no later than the end of this year.
