DR. VIKTOR VRAČAR TAKES OVER THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ŠOŠTANJ THERMAL POWER PLANT

The Supervisory Board of Holding Slovenske elektrarne d. o. o. (HSE SB) at today’s meeting considered the resignation of Dr. Viktor Vračar from the position of Managing Director of the company HSE due to his appointment to the position of Managing Director of the company Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant d.o.o. (TEŠ).

The Managing Director of HSE, who was appointed to this position on November 3, 2020, prior to which he had been a member of the management – Business Director of HSE since May 1, 2019, responded to the invitation to apply for the position of Managing Director of the company TEŠ. The Supervisory Board of Holding Slovenske elektrarne d. o. o. confirmed the mutual termination of the position of Managing Director of the company HSE and gave its consent to his appointment as the Managing Director of the company TEŠ.

During his mandate, numerous projects were successfully implemented in HSE and in the HSE Group, whose activities are coordinated by the umbrella company, including a proactive focus on the construction of new production capacities in the field of renewable energy sources with the construction of the largest solar power plant in Slovenia, Prapretno SPP; expansion activities by entering the retail market with the merger of the companies ECE and Energija plus with the HSE Group; the beginning of procedures for the restructuring of the Šaleška region in accordance with the principles of a just transition; the conclusion of the arbitration with the equipment supplier for block six in TEŠ; adaptation of the business model to extreme volatility in the energy markets, etc.

Dr. Viktor Vračar will begin his term as the Managing Director of TEŠ on November 8, 2022. Regarding the Slovenian thermal power plant, which provides a third of all Slovenian electricity production, he faces great challenges in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the TEŠ energy location and thus the supply of electricity to the Slovenian economy and households. He knows the company TEŠ well, as well as the key tasks along the way, i.e. the green transition of TEŠ and the entire region.

In accordance with the above, the HSE SB will immediately begin the activities for the appointment of a new managing director of HSE.
