The company TAB d.d. has successfully set up and launched a battery energy storage system with rated power of 1.325 MW and a capacity of 2.2 MWh in Prevalje. This advanced technological solution, developed and produced by TAB, is important for implementing the strategy of energy efficiency, sustainable development and greater energy independence.
Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE), the parent company of the HSE Group and the spearhead of the green transition in Slovenia, will take over the management of the storage system by the end of 2025. HSE will remotely manage the storage system from the HSE Management Centre, which further confirms the importance of the project as part of broader efforts to strengthen the Slovenian electric power system and the role of storage systems in the green energy transition.
Dr. Tomaž Štokelj, the Chief Executive Officer of HSE: “The HSE Group is the spearhead of the green transition in Slovenia. Investments in new renewable electricity generation capacities and energy storage are a central part of our development strategy. Among energy storage systems, an important role is played by battery systems, which we plan to set up alongside various power plants across Slovenia, thereby further contributing to the stability of the electricity supply. In this respect, collaboration with the company TAB is an example of good practice and excellent cooperation, of which we wish to see more in the future.”
Roman Burja, the Chief Executive Officer of TAB d.d.: “The launch of the battery energy storage system is a major milestone for the company TAB – not only a technological, but also a strategic one. We are proud to have developed and implemented a solution that is the fruit of European knowledge and which confirms our focus on the energy solutions of the future. The system is not only a technical achievement, but also a tangible example of reliable, safe and sustainable practice that we want to offer to the market. We are happy that Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) will take over the management of the storage system by the end of 2025. This is an excellent example of cooperation between industry and the energy sector, strengthening joint efforts in the energy transition. With this project, TAB demonstrates that it is ready to play an active role in the energy transition.”
