REPLACEMENT OF THE DAMAGED PART WITH A NEW ONE IN GENERATOR 6 OF TEŠ

A team of technicians and maintenance workers of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ) continued today with the works to eliminate the malfunction which occurred yesterday on generator 6, because of which the generator was shut down. It has been established that the damaged parts of hydraulic drives of valves need to be replaced.

After the spare parts have been supplied, maintenance workers of the TEŠ will replace the damaged parts with new ones, while generator 6 will be off the grid. Since a scheduled shut-down of the generator has already been planned under the annual operation and maintenance plan, as of Friday, 21 December, the generator will also be off the grid during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The TEŠ team will therefore carry out all planned maintenance works during the holidays, and generator 6 is expected to be reconnected to the grid on 3 January 2019.

Yesterday’s malfunction on Generator 6 did not cause major material damage due to the quick and successful intervention by firefighters and maintenance workers. The total costs of the damage will be known after the purchase and installation of the new equipment. The supply of heating for the Šalek Valley in the coming days and during the holidays will be secured by the operation of the gas-powered generator and generator 5 of the TEŠ.
