GENERATOR SIX OF TEŠ SHUT DOWN TODAY

Generator 6 of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ) was shut down at 2.36 a.m. today. Preliminary findings indicate that what caused the shutdown was the collapse of the walling material of one of the high-pressure oil feed pipes on the hydraulic cylinder of the high-pressure relief valve on the boiler. Due to the dispersion of oil in the surroundings, the contact between the oil mist and the hot housing of the valve caused a fire. The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes with fire extinguishers by firefighters from the Šoštanj unit.

The efforts to eliminate the malfunction are already under way. The supply of heating for the Šalek Valley is being secured by the operation of the gas-powered generator and generator 5 of the TEŠ.
