The process of ecological rehabilitation and revitalisation of Unit 5 in Šoštanj thermal power plant, which started on September 1st 2017, is concluding on Tuesday, the 31st of July 2018, when a trial start of the Unit with estimated 305 MW is foreseen. The ecological rehabilitation will reduce the Unit’s emissions considerably. In comparison with the recently shut down Unit 4 the revitalised Unit’s emissions of SO2 will be 50% lower, its NOx emissions will be 60% lower and the emissions of particulate matter will be 80% lower.
