Generator 6 of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ) was shut down at noon on Tuesday, 19 December. This planned shut-down is expected to be in effect until the second week of January 2018. In the meantime, an inspection of the equipment and a warranty-covered repair of the steam collector due to a risk of cracks will be carried out. The costs will be covered by the General Electric company. During the stoppage of generator 6, the production of electricity and heat for external consumers will be secured by generator 4.

Generator 6 of the TEŠ was in operation for 7,226 hours in 2017, generating 3,116 GWh of electricity in the process. In the first eleven months of the year, it produced 2,976 GWh of electricity, with January being the month of heaviest demand (350 GWh). This generator’s share in the entire production of the HSE Group was 45%, and its share of the entire electricity production in Slovenia was 23%.

After generator 6 is reconnected to the grid, a press conference will be held at which TEŠ experts will answer questions from the press.
