Start of construction of HPP Vrhovo.

Construction of HP Vrhovo completed.

Operating permit for HP Vrhovo acquired.

June 2000

National Assembly, upon a proposal by MPs Jože Avšič, Branko Janc and Tone Anderlič, adopts the Act on Terms and Conditions of the Concession for the Exploitation of Energy Potential of the Lower Sava river (the “Concession Act”), which provides for the concession to be granted to the owner of the structures of HP Vrhovo.

November 2000

The Government of the Republic Slovenia adopts the Decision granting the concession to Savske elektrarne Ljubljana the owner of HP Vrhovo.

February 2001

RS Government, at the session of 7 February 2001, establishes that it cannot enter into the Concession Agreement with Savske elektrarne Ljubljana the actual owner of the structures of HP Vrhovo and as such, in accordance with the Concession Act, entitled to the exploitation of the energy potential, as well as Concession Holder on the basis of the Decision on energy exploitation.

July 2001

 RS Government adopts the Act on establishing Holding Slovenske elektrarne (HSE) which includes the hydropower producers Dravske elektrarne Maribor, Savske elektrarne Ljubljana and Soške elektrarne Nova Gorica, the combined gas-fired power plant Termoelektrarna Brestanica, the coal-fired power plant Termoelektrarna Šoštanj and the Premogovnik Velenje coalmining company, and the Decisions to carry out the construction of the hydropower plants on the Lower Sava river via the newly established HSE Group.

May 2002

The Act amending the Concession Act is adopted, allowing Savske elektrarne Ljubljana to transfer, in part or in full, the entitlement in relation to the exploitation of energy potential of the Lower Sava river to Holding Slovenske elektrarne… A new version of the pre-investment concept of the HP chain on the Lower Sava river is also drafted.

June 2002

Councils of Sevnica, Krško and Brežice, at a joint session, adopt the Decision on preliminary harmonisation of the Concession Agreement for the utilisation of energy potential of the Lower Sava river. In June 2002 the investment program for HP Boštanj and the final version of the conceptual design are also completed. A hydraulic model of HP Boštanj is also constructed and tested.

July 2002

RS Government gives the approval for the signing of the Concession Agreement for the construction of the HP chain on the Lower Sava river, and appoints the signatory on behalf of the Government. On 8 July the Concession Agreement is signed at Vrhovo.

August 2002

A call for tenders for preliminary works at HP Boštanj – Lot A1 is published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia (No. 77/2002, 30. 8. 2002).

September 2002

Conceptual design of the infrastructure of HP Boštanj is drafted and revised.

October 2002

On 2 October a pre-tender conference for potential suppliers of preliminary works at HP Boštanj is held at Vrhovo. In October 2002 HSE also drafts and submits the investment programme for the construction of infrastructure facilities for HP Boštanj to the Ministry of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy.

November 2002

The contract for the execution of preliminary works at HP Boštanj is awarded to GRADIS NIZKE GRADNJE, d.d., Maribor / GIZ GRADIS, Ljubljana.

May 2003

Directors of Holding Slovenske elektrarne, Savske elektrarne Ljubljana , Soške elektrarne Nova Gorica and Termoelektrarna Brestanica sign the Joint Venture Agreement for the Construction of a HP Chain on the Lower Sava river.

November 2003

First turbine assembly metal components are installed at Boštanj HPP

January 2004

Bogdan Barbič becomes a director of the the Joint Venture Agreement for the Construction of a HP Chain on the Lower Sava river.

23 rd April 2004

on 23 rd April , Holding Slovenske elektrarne and NIVO, gradnje in ekologija, d.d. sign the agreement for the execution of the HPP Boštanj accumulation dam construction works (LOT A3).

14 th December 2004

Installation of stay vanes at HPP Boštanj.

27 th September 2005

First water-powered spinning of the generator at HPP Boštanj.

14 th November 2005

Synchronization of Generator #1 at HPP Boštanj.

14 th November 2005

Laying of foundation stone for HPP Blanca.

27 May 2006

Opening of Boštanj HPP.

2008

12th of February 2008: The Contract on Establishment of the HESS Company is signed.

20th of June 2008: The entitlement in relation to exploatation of energy potential of the Lower Sava river is transfered to company HESS.
