DEM Hydropower Plants
DEM Hydropower Plants are the largest Slovenian producer of electricity from renewable sources. Together they cover approximately a quarter of all electricity needs in the country with the available power close to of 586.6 MW (in run-of-river accumulation). With eight hydropower plants on the river Drava and two small hydropower plants, they produce a total of 80 percent of Slovenian electricity, which meets the criteria of renewable sources and the standards of the internationally recognised certificate RECS. Quality hydrology is assured in an environmentally friendly way and by respecting the principles of sustainable development.

The increase in the rated flow of the entire chain, from 450 to 550 m3/s, facilitates the more efficient meeting of peak demand when flow is high; it also provides the requisite reserve capacity for the entire system. A 50 MW increase in installed capacity has also been a direct result of renovation, while the anticipated refurbishment of the Zlatoličje and Formin plants shall add a further 20 to 25 MW to the total capacity.
