DEM Hydropower Plants
DEM Hydropower Plants are the largest Slovenian producer of electricity from renewable sources. Together they cover approximately a quarter of all electricity needs in the country with the available power close to of 586.6 MW (in run-of-river accumulation). With eight hydropower plants on the river Drava and two small hydropower plants, they produce a total of 80 percent of Slovenian electricity, which meets the criteria of renewable sources and the standards of the internationally recognised certificate RECS. *plus a small HPP at Melje - with a 1MW capacity The increase in the rated flow of the entire chain, from 450 to 550 m3/s, facilitates the more efficient meeting of peak demand when flow is high; it also provides the requisite reserve capacity for the entire system. A 50 MW increase in installed capacity has also been a direct result of renovation, while the anticipated refurbishment of the Zlatoličje and Formin plants shall add a further 20 to 25 MW to the total capacity.
